Hi, I’m Aditi Jain—textile designer, craft facilitator, and avid observer. My work revolves around a deep appreciation for the handmade, drawing inspiration from the rich stories of people, places, and objects that surround me.

Growing up, I was immersed in a world of crafts and makers. Both my grandmothers made innumerable embroidery, crochet and more for near and dear ones. I’ve spent many evenings watching my mother stencil elaborate patterns on her saris. My father, a self-taught graphic designer, has always shared his work and process and encouraged design thinking.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication from M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai and a Master’s in Textile Design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The most meaningful take-away from studying design has been to look beyond an object and into the context of it.

Currently, I am part of the Gandhigram Khadi & VIPC Trust in Tamil Nadu, where I facilitate design through the weavers to keep the identity and beauty of Gandhigram Khadi alive.

I have also been involved with organisations such as:

DakshinaChitra Heritage Museum, Chennai
National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad
Concern India Foundation, India
Crafts Council of India
Tarabooks, Chennai
Goethe Institut, Chennai
Council on Energy, Environment and Water, Delhi
Nool by Hand, Erode
Co-optex, Chennai
Lalee Kids, San Francisco
