Hello, I’m Aditi.
As a textile designer, craft facilitator, and observer, I’m passionate about everything handmade. The stories behind people, places, and objects around me inspire me.
I grew up surrounded by crafts and makers. Both my grandmothers made innumerable embroidery, crochet and other items for near and dear ones. I’ve spent many evenings watching my mother stencil elaborate patterns on her saris. My father, a self-taught graphic designer, has always shared his work and process and encouraged me to design without inhibition.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication from M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai and a Master’s in Textile Design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The most meaningful take-away from studying design has been to look beyond an object and into the context of it.
I am currently working at Gandhigram Khadi & VIPC Trust in Tamil Nadu. I have been facilitating design through the weavers to keep the identity and beauty of Gandhigram Khadi alive.
I’ve also worked on various textile projects for organisations like:
Nool by Hand, Erode
National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad
Co-optex, Chennai
Lalee Kids, San Francisco
Crafts Council of India
Concern India Foundation, India
Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai
I’m always on the lookout for exciting and challenging projects. If you have something in mind or just want to say hello, do get in touch with me.
